Frequently Asked Questions

  • Think of leadership coach as a career coach that specializes in developing leadership skills to bring growth and impact to your career, aligned to your goals.

  • My primary focus is to help professionals get unstuck in their careers with confidence and authenticity through leadership development. I use my experience and background in creative management, tech/product, transformation management and LGBTQIA+ advocacy across my 20 years in media to drive my coaching strategies - think of me like having your own chief of staff or strategic advisor.

I typically work with mid career, creative and/or LGBTQIA+ professionals who are looking to grow their leadership skills and own their careers.

Sometimes my clients are product owners, creative directors, producers, writers, researchers, creators, designers, editors, developers, filmmakers, production managers, illustrators, advertisers, small business owners, etc.

You don’t need to have any of those titles or identify as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community to take advantage of my coaching services.

  • My services range from 1-on-1 leadership coaching, thought leadership to long and short term consulting for organizations and individuals.

Some sample 1-on-1 coaching themes include but are not limited to: leadership upskilling, career planning, confidence building, job search strategy, and transformation management.

Some sample thought leadership topics I have covered in the past include but are not limited to: comparative media, production management, creative development, LGBTQIA+/DEI/Belonging policies, media strategy, AI adoption, stakeholder management, and adaptive leadership.

  • After an intro call, we’ll meet for an hour on Google Meet and identify your goals for the session that align to your overarching goals, discuss updates, and dig into the topics that are top of mind for you. Sometimes the session is very structured, other times it can naturally develop through our conversation.

  • I use my 20 years working on both ends of media (from content to advertising) on a global scale to inform my interdisciplinary coaching approach.

Our partnership is mindfulness-led and results-oriented using a combination of actionable reflection and exercises.

  • My coaching philosophy is grounded in real world application.

I bring my 20 years of end-to-end media strategy, business development and transformation management experience to my sessions. We work together to identify discussions and exercises based on your needs and timeline. These exercises can be in the form of a personal SWOT analysis, build out a 30-60-90 plan for your next quarter, or fill out a time management wheel to assess where your time and energy is going.

Through my volunteer work as a Trans Peer Group facilitator and Al-Anon sponsor, I’ve spent years at the intersection of identity and resilience. I don’t just coach for performance; I coach the person behind the performance.

Whether we’re dismantling codependent professional habits or navigating a major identity shift, I bring the same rigor, empathy, and boundary-setting that I use in my community advocacy to our sessions.

  • The commitment depends on your goals, your support needs, and your timeline. Once I understand your goals and challenges, I can make a recommendation on meeting cadence and number of sessions. You can also pay-as-you-go or prebuy session bundles for a discount.

  • An important part of coaching is celebrating your successes and giving credit where credit is due. Because our coaching framework is driven by your goals and challenges, we see what’s working, what’s not working and build upon those strengths that are creating change.

  • You can always email me between sessions with questions, notes, thoughts, etc. and I will reply within 24-48 hours. You can always schedule a session sooner as needed.

  • My approach is driven by my lived experience as an out LGBTQIA+ and Hispanic professional navigating corporate environments since the beginning of my career. I saw first hand how impactful good and bad management can be no matter how you identify, and I’ve also seen how companies are structured and framed policies with a blindspot for minority groups.

My goal is to empower you to find your leadership voice with authenticity and confidence without sacrificing who you are as a person while meeting the bottom line.

  • This is a great question! Finding (and hiring) a coach is similar to finding a therapist - a private confidant that will keep you accountable based on your challenges and goals. Here are some considerations and questions you can ask yourself to guide you:

    • Does the coach specialize in your field, industry or challenge?

    • What do you want out of a coach?

    • Does the coach work within your schedule’s needs?

    • Do you align with the coach’s approach?

    • How do you feel after interacting with the coach?

    • Do you feel a sense of psychological safety on the first call?

  • The first Intro call is like an interview framed as a conversation to see if we are a fit for each other. This is a time to get to know each other, where I typically ask a few questions, share my coaching approach and style, and answer your questions.  While you do not need to prepare anything in advance, here are some considerations to think about ahead of our first call:

    • What do you want to get out of coaching?

    • What are the current challenges you are facing?

    • What is/are the current goal/s you are working towards and what has that experience been like?

  • Both! Since we identify your goals and challenges at the beginning, we develop a north star for our sessions.

Some sessions you may come in with a specific problem to break down in our session. Other times, you may not have time due to work priorities and/or life ‘life-ing’, and that is expected. Come as you are and we can work out the rest.

  • This will depend on your goals, challenges and timeline, as well as your ability to implement the tools and habits we discuss in our sessions.

  • Absolutely. I can provide custom invoices for your company’s needs and can also support navigating any additional needs or materials your manager and/or company requires for reimbursement.

  • Homework between sessions varies based on your goals and preferences.

Sometimes I may recommend readings or share articles that relate to our discussions; other times it will be working on an exercise sheet, or most often “thinking work” where I recommend reflecting on a question or topic that comes up in our discussion.

Ultimately the results of coaching reflect the effort you invest, so while homework between sessions is optional, it is highly recommended.
